Community Garden
For the City of Beacon Housing Authority, the new garden and redesigned common spaces at this 70-unit affordable housing complex, brought new life to previously unused and underused social spaces. Within a limited budget, a new garden space was created by converting an asphalt lot into a community garden. In addition to new trees and planters filled with perennials, a hedge of flowering shrubs shields the new garden space from a parking lot. Overhead shelters, a fountain, and built-in planter wrap and outstretch to serve the dual purpose of providing much-appreciated seating as well as welcomed shade for the residents.
