RENOVATION AND ADDITION

President's Street

 

The design of this project rearranged a four-story townhouse by combining the garden and parlor levels into a renovated duplex apartment for the owner, and designing two, floor-through rental apartments on the upper levels. A new two-story addition at the rear of the house is rendered in insulated polycarbonate panels, allowing light to enter the south façade while also providing privacy. The existing wood subfloors were repurposed as wall and ceiling material and the wood joists that were removed to create the opening for the central steel and glass bridge were sculpted into the work surfaces and sides of the kitchen island.
