TOWNHOUSE RENOVATION

8th Street II

Working with a client who envisioned a  modern home within the 4 walls of a traditional townhouse, the design of this house began with connecting the lower two floors. A new open steel and wood stair sits in a double height space against the backdrop of a two-story wall of steel and glass which faces onto a dramatic bi-level garden. Lowering the basement floor and a portion of the garden created a seamless connection to the outdoors. Concrete floors, painted steel and wood stairs along with an Ikea kitchen disguised with custom doors, all contribute to the clean modern design.
